Iron ore mines in India

In India most of the iron ore is found in the Deccan Plateau which is the oldest land block in the Indian subcontinent. Deccan Plateau was part of Gondwanaland, and due to that it is rich in natural resources. Iron ore being one of the richest mineral from which iron is extracted, which, by the way is very essential for any nation's economy and development. India not only extracts huge amount of iron ore for its own consumption, it also exports quite a lot to other countries. Some of the major iron ore mines in India are found in the states of:-

  1. Odisha - Brabil, Mayubhanj, Joda, Kendujhar, Jajpur, Sundergarh, Gandhamardhan
  2. Jharkhand - Singhbum, Barajamda
  3. Chhatishgarh - Bailadilla, Dalli-Rajhara
  4. Andhra Pradesh - Guntur, Ongole
  5. Karnataka - Bellary, Chikmagaluru
  6. Goa - North and South Goa
  7. Maharashtra - Ratnagiri
